Quick Tip

Carol from Rocky Point, North Carolina writes:

I NEED EASY STEPS TO RESTORE MY IPHONE 4S TO THE iOS BEFORE iOS7. ANY IDEAS? HHHEELLLLP! please..

Unfortunately Carol, there's no going back on an iPhone 4s. Dedicated hackers have managed to jailbreak the iPhone 4 and with some effort you could get back to a previous operating system on that phone, but not anything later than the iPhone 4.

It's all part of Apple's grand design to ensure that every user of their devices has the same experience. Every Android device is just a little different, but Apple wants conformity in their devices.

The Most Versatile Speakers You'll EVER Find!

Good Sound, Lightweight, Foldable for Travel...

AND THEY LIGHT UP TO YOUR MUSIC!

Give Your MP3 Player the Speakers It Deserves!

Share Your Music, Or Just Listen Without Needing Headphones!

FINALLY!

The LED Lights Synchronize With The Music!

Works With Any Device That Has a Headphone Jack!

They Even Make Handy Computer Speakers!

I've Got a Major Issue, Here.

MP3 players are pretty common nowadays, right?

They don't make CD players or cassette players anymore, and MP3s definitely are easier to deal with.

BUT WHAT'S WITH ALL THE MP3 PLAYERS THAT DON'T HAVE SPEAKERS?!

What happened to music being something you put on and listened to from room to room? Parties?

Hey, even relaxing on your own, it'd be nice to use that little MP3 player WITHOUT headphones!

Then again, I DID have an MP3 player with speakers... and they sucked! BIG TIME!

It sounded like a recording in a tin can, underwater!

"Steve, IS there a solution?" Of course! And WorldStart finally has it!

The UNIVERSAL Light Show LED Fold-Up Speakers!

Fold it out and it's ready to go!

That's ALL there is to it!

Finally - you'll have all your MP3s on your MP3 player, but they can be heard from further than an inch away!

Plus, these work with ANY device that has a headphone jack! It connects right in the same spot - just plug in the 3.5mm plug! Easy!

iPods
MP3 Players
iPhones
Smartphones
Even Computers!

Oh Yeah, Did I Mention THEY LIGHT UP?!?!

This thing is AWESOME!

Once you plug them into your MP3 player or phone, get ready for the light show! All around the speakers' edges are built-in LEDs!

Get your music playing and those bad boys are gonna start pulsating RIGHT with your music!

That's right, these synchronize WITH your music! So if you're listening to loud rock, they're gonna be vibrant and blasting all sorts of colors! But if you're just enjoying some mellow jazz, it'll be softer, slower pulses!

You've never seen somethin' like this!

And it's SO COMPACT when you fold these speakers up, you can take them anywhere you go!

Stand Your Player Up!

With the simple cradle, your MP3 player will fit right inside and stand in place!

It keeps it easy to access and displays the current information on your screen without having to pull it back out!

Remember - it's a simple headphone plug, so ANY audio device that you could plug speakers or headphones into will work!

NOW, FOR MY NEXT SURPRISE...

IT'S ONLY $4.97!!!

And US shipping is FREE on any order over $5!

This isn't a joke, it's just one of our best deals EVER! Make sure to get to the store before the ONE box we got of these sells out for good!

http://store.worldstart.com/product/9296

The sale WILL end Friday sending these up to $8.97 so hurry!

Computers 101

Thom from Connecticut writes.

This is for Cynthia. You are to be commended for the straight forward and complete answers you give to your readers. They are extremely helpful to us senior citizens (77 year-old) who may not be computer savvy. The graphics you include make it very helpful to see exactly what you are talking about. I'm interested in just how you include these graphics, including arrows, pointing to a selection in a drop-down menu. They are fantastic. Keep up the great work and tell Steve that I for one, believe you deserve a raise.

Cheers . . .

Thom

Thom, you flatterer, you. You know how to ask a question. The answer is that I use the most basic of programs called Paint. If you have a Windows system, it's most likely right there in your accessories. To find it, look in your Accessories file or just type Paint in your search box or search charm.

Click on the icon for Paint in the search results.

This program should open.

Paint will allow you to view images and also to crop them do some basic editing. You can also create drawings. But most people can't be like the guy in this story, who created masterpieces.

Here's how I use Paint when I'm working on an article. Let's say I'm writing a tip about Internet Explorer and I want to point out something on Settings drop-down menu. I would pull up the image I want and then press the Ctrl key + PrtScn key. I would click on the screen in Paint and press Ctrl + V or right click and select past. A shot of the entire screen that was displayed will appear in Paint.

Since I don't want to display the entire image in my article, I will need to crop it. For this purpose I will grab the little Select box up top, right under View.

I draw a little box around the area I wish to use for the image.

Then choose crop.

I could not rotate or resize the image if I needed to. In this case, It looks fine the way it is.

To add a shape, such as an arrow, I would select it from the Shapes menu at the top. I can choose from squares, triangles, stars, arrows and thought and speech bubbles.

Once the shape is selected, I can choose options for the shape like outlined or filled and make it look like a marker or oil painting. I can also select size and color for the shape.

When I have customized what the shape will look like, I move my cursor to where I want the shape and Paint "draws" it for me while I click and drag.

I can make the shape as large or small as I like. Another fun use for paint shapes: speech bubbles on photos!

Just click on the text tool up top and then back on your speech bubble to add words.

Office 365 Mobile For Android

If you subscribe to Microsoft's Office 365 and have an Android phone with Android 4.0 or later, you'll want to check out Office 365 for Android. I've been using it on my Galaxy S4 for a few months and I have to say that I'm pretty impressed. I will admit that I don't use my phone as my primary productivity advice. I have a Surface Pro tablet that I use for running the full version of Office 365.

Office 365 differs from the traditional Microsoft Office model in that you pay $99 yearly or $9.99 monthly for an Office 365 Home Premium subscription that includes Word, OneNote, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Publisher and Access that you can use on up to five computers and five mobile devices.

Office 365 for Android is a pared down version that offers, Word, Excel and PowerPoint. OneNote is available as a separate app for Android and I highly recommend it.

So what does Office 365 for Android offer? You can create, edit and view both Word and Excel documents. And I have to say that both types of documents look pretty good on my phone.

Here's an example of a Word document:

I've found that type styles and formatting stay fairly true to the original. Tapping the pencil icon at the top will allow you to edit the document.

John from Yuma, AZ writes:

My Grandson loaned his Acer laptop to a friend and he somehow changed the password in the BIOS. I am somewhat computer savvy and have tried everything that I know, all to no avail. Acer will fix the problem for a couple of hundred dollars and the place where it was purchased (Best Buy) will not touch it even, though it was still under warranty. How can I access the BIOS and change the password or even eliminate it all together?

Answer:

I've got some bad news for you: it won't be simple few clicks to remove the BIOS password. You will need to remove the CMOS battery to reset the BIOS password and that requires a skilled technician or someone comfortable with disassembling laptops.

The good news is that any local PC repair technician should be able to perform the surgery your laptop needs. When you contact local computer repair shops, ask what the charge will be to clear a CMOS password for an Acer laptop. Comparing quotes from a few companies is a good idea but expect to pay for roughly one hour of labor. The price should range anywhere between $40 and $100.

If you feel comfortable disassembling the laptop yourself, you can...

Decompress Files For Free With B1 Online Archiver

Compressed files are an easy way to combine multiple files into a single file or decrease the file size. However, with the wide variety of compression formats available, you may not always have the right decompression software on hand. While Windows now has built-in software for handling ZIP files, what happens if you run across a RAR or 7z?

You could download additional software, but what if you're on a friend's computer? The solution is a free online tool...

Amanda's Coolsite

Honest Slogans

I should have totally been working on my final paper, but instead I was procrastinating and surfing the web when I ran across this site.

It's a site filled with logos of products or services we all know, but with honest slogans attached to them.

For example, the one for Wikipedia has their logo with the tag line "You're welcome, college students." Overall, I found them very funny.

Navigation is simple! Just scroll down the page, and when you reach the bottom use the page numbers or arrows to navigate back and forth through the entries.

Whether you're sitting at home...

...or white water rafting, you can have your medication on you at ALL times!

Think about it! This is important stuff.

Chances are, if you're on any kind of medication, it's got instructions that you need to follow closely. And of those instructions, the daily dosage at regular intervals is probably one of the most important ones!

But prescription bottles aren't well-designed for travel!

Sure, they're pretty well sealed... if all you're worried about is spillin' them! That's about all the praise you can lavish on a regular old plastic pill bottle!

But they're so bulky!

Then an idea SO brilliant comes along...

Here's the NEW way to store your day's pills!

Water-resistant.

Shock-proof.

Compact, pocketable size.

Key-chain ready.

This is what pharmacists should be using from the get-go!

You'll be able to keep your pills on you 24/7! This thing is 2.5" long and nearly an inch in diameter!

Talk about compact!

There's not much complication in using this: Open it up, store your pills, and seal it!

With the interior O-ring, you can be sure that water isn't going to easily find its way inside

The bottom is completely flat so you can just set down anywhere!

After all, who wants their pills rolling away?!

Between the compact size that lets you fit these in any pocket or bag, and the keychain loop that lets you hang it from your keyring (or really anywhere, so many things have keychain loops now) you'll never be concerned about how you'll bring it with you!

Oh, and these are only $4.97!!

Plus, if you get two (or your order is over $5!) you get FREE SHIPPING in the US!

You better believe these guys are moving quick - get a couple before they're gone!

This image is one of a series where this big 'ole Polar Bear emerged from a snow bank and decided to take a stroll around our Polar Rover.
