Having trouble viewing parts or all of the newsletter? View the entire newsletter here! Richard from Florida writes: Is there any way two iPads can talk to each other one is Apple the other is Android, we have tried different ways, but they all work with phone numbers. Is there another way? Thank you. Richard what you have here are two tablets, one an iPad and one an Android. The name iPad only applies to tablets manufactured by Apple and running the iOS system. If you say iPad when you mean Android, you might end up with some confusion along the way. You're dealing with two separate operating systems, iOS and Android. Fortunately, that's not really a problem. Messaging between the devices is a simple as downloading the Android version of an app for your Android and the Apple Skype App for your iPad. Skype will let you make voice and video calls. Viber is also an example of an app available for both platforms that offers voice calls. You do need a phone number to set up Viber. Skype will let you make voice and video calls. Any messaging app that allows voice communication and has a version for Android and iPad should work. ~ Cynthia Click here to rate this tip | Printer friendly version

John from Oklahoma writes: My problem is on some business sub sites (example Espnshop.com, NCAA) I receive a message box stating: message from webpage [object error] and an OK box to click. When I click the OK box nothing happens and I can't do anything on the page with it there. To get rid of the OK box I have to click it several times and beat it to the delete page (x at top) before it returns in a couple of seconds. I have tried new start dates, ccCleaner, Norton scans, nothing works. I have several gift cards I would like to use, but can't due to this problem. Can you help? The issue could be related to add-ons in Internet Explorer. Here's a way to test that out. In Windows 7 go to All Programs > Accessories > System Tools and select Internet Explorer (No Add-Ons.) A version of Internet Explorer without add-ons will open. If the sites that are giving you problems will work without issues, it's time to track down the add-ons that are giving you trouble. You'll want to shut the no add-ons version of Internet Explorer and open Internet Explorer back up. It's time search for the pesky add-on that's causing the problem. Select the gear symbol and choose Manage Add- Ons from the drop-down menu. Now for the fun. You go down the list of displayed add-ons one at a time and disable them. Check the sites you're having trouble with in Internet Explorer to see if they work. By process of elimination, you may be able to find the add-on causing the issue. If that doesn't work, you could always try viewing the sites in Chrome or Firefox. ~ Cynthia Click here to rate this tip | Printer friendly version Do you have a question for us? Ask it here!
Re-gifting A Kindle I recently purchased a Kindle Fire HDX, but I still had a perfectly good first generation Kindle Fire that I wouldn't be needing. I decided to gift it to a friend who loves to read and watch movies on demand, but has never owned a tablet.
With most tablets all you need to do is a factory reset and all of your personal information is erased. Kindles, because they are tied to your Amazon account are a two-step process. Whether you are giving away or selling a Kindle, you'll want to make sure you clear out your information and get the tablet ready for the next user. You'll need to de-register your Kindle so that it is no longer tied to your account. This prevents anyone from either accidentally or on-purpose purchasing items from your Amazon account. To deregister your Kindle... Want more? Head on over to WorldStart! Zero TV Households More and more Americans are saying goodbye to watching traditional television. The number of homes who report no television jumped to 5 million in 2012 and that has broadcasters worried. Most of these homes aren't giving up on media and turning to books, they are finding new ways to consume their programming. When television first began broadcasting, you needed an antenna and television with a built-in receiver to watch shows. Then gradually that changed to include the option of getting signals from a cable or satellite provider. Now it's possible to get nearly all the programming you want to watch without even owning a television. But you will need a decent high-speed Internet connection in order to stream programming. Customers who discontinue cable and satellite services have been called cord-cutters meaning they aren't tethered to a single provider for their entertainment. So, if you decide to cut the cord, where do you turn for entertainment? One thing, just because you aren't watching "television" doesn't mean you might not have a nice large monitor in your living room. But you aren't using it the traditional sense of watching broadcast television on the broadcasters schedule. You are watching on-demand what you want, when you want. So if you say goodbye to the antenna and the cable box, how do you watch programming and get news? You have several options: Head on over to WorldStart to learn more!
Eugene from Chino California asked us: "Is there a simplified tree, maybe in several pages, to show what is in Windows 7 in such things as the control panel or any of the solution devices which are used for maintaining a PC?" We thought that was a great idea and decided to do a special series. In part one we looked at System and Security. In part two we checked out Network and Internet. Part three was hardware and software. Part 4 was Programs. For part 5, we've got a look at User Accounts and Family Safety. For a full-sized view of the computer tree, head on over to WorldStart! Fox In The Pine DIY I found this site while searching for some last minute Christmas gift ideas. I like to make handmade things and was looking for some cool crafty things in particular. I really loved the chalkboard gift tags idea, and the Christmas tree bunting is a great idea for a decoration that will help me use up some leftover paints from another project. Navigation is setup blog style so all you have to do is scroll down the page. If you like a particular project, you can either click the link underneath all the images for that post. Or you can mouse over the image, and in the upper right corner click the Pin It button to save it to your Pinterest for later. I know I pinned quite a few things for Halloween and Fall ideas next year. I also love the photography itself in these images, beautifully done and staged.
